WORLD APITHERAPY DAY: Dr. Filip Terč (formerly Philipp Tertsch), the first scientific researcher on medical uses of apitoxin, was born on March 30, 1844, in Prapořištĕ, Bohemia, Czech Republic, at 9 Prapořištĕ Street, the son of Johann Tertsch and Barbara Stepan (Barbara Tertsch). Celebration of March 30 as “World Apitherapy Day” was an initiative by Bees for Life – World Apitherapy Network since 2005. As Prapořištĕ is not far from Passau, and March 30 was just after the Apitherapy Congress, Expo and Course in Passau (March 24-29, 2006), a group of interested people visited Terč birth site in Prapořištĕ and met Czech beekeepers and apitherapists. That March 30 was the first celebration of Dr. Terč's birthday and the World Apitherapy Day. In facebook (www.facebook.com) page of Bees for Life you can see a number of pictures of that celebration and biographic information/pictures of Dr. Terč.
